Organic Valley Deli Cheeses

Just in.. Organic Valley Deli cheeses are now packed using tapioca/sago starch instead of corn starch. This was reported by company correspondence posted on Delphi Forums - Avoiding Corn.

Per Organic Valley: "We have completely converted to the the tapioca/sago starch dusting."

Do be careful though as there may still be a few corn starched packages left out there, and these may not fully hit the shelves for several months.

You'll also need to make sure to keep reading the labels for any other corny additives. This is just a packaging update.

Also - None of the Stringles or Sticks use corn starch. :)

2012 Update: Block cheeses are not safe.

"their 8oz package is dusted in corn starch and their is a possibility of peanut cross contamination as it is packaged in a facility that processes peanuts! ...  the larger 16oz blocks and was told there is a risk with them as well due to the facility using corn starch on the outsides of the packaging"

I just wanted to double check. This is only for their cheeses in the store deli where they slice it for you. This doesn't include their block cheese sold in the store section exept for stick and stringels?
Thanks!

This is about their pre-sliced prepackaged cheeses. Their block cheeses (also according to the emails posted) do not use corn starch.

Hi there, Thank you for this list! What about the enzymes used to assist the bacteria in the fermentation process? I have heard these may be from corn in some brands of cheese. Do you know where the enzymes were derived from in this brand? Thanks!
