Rubber Bands for Orthodonistry

I just found out today that the bands normally used for braces and the like for orthodontic work are dusted with corn starch.

The person, who unfortunately found this out the hard way, did find that washing the bands thoroughly before putting them in her mouth removed the corn starch and then could be used safely.

If you're needing these bands, do make sure to tell your Dentist/Orthodontist about this concern so that the bands can be washed prior to use.
