Dr. Bronner's Products - removed

Dr. Bronner's has recently changed their ingredients. We'd been hearing reports of reactions for a few months now, but it has been confirmed that Dr. Bronner's now contains corn ingredients.

A company response from a consumer inquiry states: ""our Shaving Gels, Lotions and Hair Crèmes contain xanthan gum derived from non-GMO corn, and our Castile Liquid Soaps, Castile Bar Soaps, Pump Soaps, and Shaving Gels contain citric acid derived from non-GMO corn"

If you're at all contact senstive (and most corn allergic's are when it comes to shower/soap products) please discontinue using Dr. Bronners.

Kiss My Face bar soap - reactions reported.

Due to multiple complaints of reactions to Kiss My Face pure olive oil soap, I'm posting a caution.

There are still some that are doing fine with this soap but there are increasing reports of reactions.

The latest reaction was due to accidental ingestion, so it's not only been skin reactions.

Please use caution with all Kiss My Face brand soaps, this was the only soap from them that was once considered safe.

Trader Joe's Hand Soap

I was just informed that Trader Joe's hand soap has recently been reformulated. It now contains possible corn ingredients.

Trader Joe's replied to an inquiry stating that the new ingredients may or may not be from corn, and may be sourced from corn at any time.

I've removed this from the list, and will not show up on the next publishing of the list.  Use caution, and as always, carefully read the ingredients list every time you purchase.

Zum Bar - Goats Milk Soaps

Zum Bar soaps have been something I avoided since.. well since I first started my corn-free journey, as rumors of reactions from corn allergic persons kept it in my mind as something to avoid.

In April 2007, there was a long discussion on Delphi-Avoiding corn where the ingredients of Zum Bar soaps were called into question.

Of the "finds":
Zum Bar confirmed that they do not use citric acid in their soaps.
Their essential oils are cold-pressed and not solvent extracted.
The company confirms that they do not use corn or corn derivatives.
Their glycerin is derived from palm.
Their vitamin E contains wheat germ.

This product is most likely corn-free.. at least should be tolerated well by most corn allergics. However there are some who question the goats milk base and dyes.

This product should not be considered gluten-free.

BubbleShack Hawaii Soaps

A company confirmation inquiry summarized on Delphi- Avoiding Corn, confirms several of the BubbleShack Hawaii Soaps to be corn-free.

BubbleShack Hawaii makes several soaps and not all are corn-free, so do use caution when selecting a soap.

According to the post on Delphi, "all of their 'regular' bar soaps are corn-free, with the exception of the following: Seafoam, Pikake Lei, Tuberose, and Kaffir Lime scents." This was last confirmed back in March 2007, so you may want to double check before ordering.

The Juicy Pineapple and Coconut Soaps were tested successfully.

In an update 10/07: Bubbleshack Hawaii has reformulated their products and none are considered corn-free at this time.

JC Naturals Soaps

A member of Delphi Avoiding Corn pointed us in the direction of JC Naturals soaps.

JC Naturals soaps are gluten, casien, and corn-free. They also make other bath & household products as well.

Another member of the Avoiding Corn forum tested their soap out with good results.

Fragrance-Free Bath Crystals

Crunchy Mama Soap - Blue House Soaps

An inquiry (Post A, Post B) into the ingredients of Crunchy Mama Soap has confirmed that this soap is corn-free. Do be aware that this is the only soap from Blue House Soaps that has been confirmed corn-free. Other soaps contain glycerin from an unknown source.

It is made with saponified oils of sunflower and olive oils. The soap is free of sodium lauryl sulfate, paraben, coconut, avocado, and soy.

Savonnerie Gluten-Free Soaps

Savonnerie soaps have been on our list for a while now. A new company reponse posted on Delphi - Avoiding Corn, gives reassurance that they will continue to strive to be corn-free.

Savonnerie also states that their new lip balm and Massage & Body oil are also corn-free. These two products have not been tested to my knowledge.

If you do have problems with their products, do let us (& them) know.

Kiss My Face - Olive Oil Bar

It seems that Kiss My Face has been adding citric acid to some of their olive oil bars. These bars are not safe.

Reactions have been reported to the Kiss My Face olive oil bars, but it is uncertain if these bars had citric acid or not.

To avoid confusion and problems in the future, the Kiss My Face olive oil bars will be removed from the list until the bars are deemed safe again.

**** UPDATE 4/07 Kiss My Face Pure Olive Oil soap no longer using citric acid. Delphi - Avoiding Corn post Watch labels for any remaining citric acid containing bars.
