As it turns out, Rain Crow's initial answers on Facebook weren't entirely correct.

The meat is washed in lactic acid and the acid wash is left on for 24 hours (long enough to soak right into the meat - a lactic acid marinade if you will) and then rinsed off with water.

This meat is being removed from the list.

Project: Enjoy Life Chocolate Chips

One of our Facebook members had a discussion today with Joel Warady of Enjoy Life Foods about the corn in their Chocolate Chips.

As many of you know the "company line" on this product is that it is "corn-free". We made a post about this product being removed from our list due to numerous reactions to it. The company is denying any such reports.

If you have reacted to this product, PLEASE help us try to convince them..
1. it is NOT corn-free.
2. to make it corn-free.

Rain Crow Grass-fed Beef

Rain Crow Grass-fed beef is a new addition to our list. The beef is entirely grass-fed, and processed in their own processing plant using only water to wash the meat. The packaging has been checked and is corn-free as well. (Their seasoned products were not checked. So use caution with those.)

They can be found at several Whole Foods locations. "Grass-fed beef from Rain Crow Ranch is available in our stores in central Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska and Wisconsin."

Stretch Island Fruit Strips

It seems Stretch Island Fruit strips may be corn-free again. According to an inquiry last fall, the products are corn-free per the company, and the natural flavors are parts of the fruits added back in.

I'll be tentatively adding these back to the list since I've several reports of people doing well on them. If you have reacted to these recently, do let me know asap.

Current only at the time of posting (normally, but I'm still way behind so not all the additions submitted have been added, though I have tried to remove all unsafe products that were brought to my attention).

This is not a guarantee of corn-free, but foods that I in conjunction with others have investigated and tested. Since we all have different sensitivities, use this more as a guide and less as a bible. Some of these foods I haven’t tried and have relied on other’s experiences, as some of these products are either not available in my area or I must avoid them for other reasons.

Read labels every time you buy a product, and be cautious. If anyone has had problems with anything listed here, please do let us know. (Thanks to Violets for her work in helping to create this list.)

Some items on the list have reported corn in them (mostly medications). These have been left on the list, with the source of corn noted on the side.  These are left on the list as they may be needed in an emergency, and an educated decision is best at these times.
